Pilates is a mind and body conditioning exercise programme aimed at improving control and balance of the whole body. Pilates helps to develop the deep postural muscles of the abdominal region and spine to give greater support for the body and functional movement. Pilates improves body awareness, developing better postural alignment by helping to restore mobility and flexibility. Pilates improves muscle activation, strength and tone with correct movement patterns, improves breathing control and helps to create a more balanced body. The benefits of Pilates for the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries and back pain are now recognised by the medical world.
Active Lives 1:1 physio-led Pilates classes combine core work, toning, strengthening, mobilising & flexibility of the whole body as well balance & relaxation. Bone health is also a priority. Challenge is enhanced by using body weight and small equipment.
The Physio-led Pilates classes work out at £11.50 per class but it is pay per course (courses usually 6-7 weeks long). If you are unable to come to your usual class time one week then you can swap to one of the other classes that I do in the week or do 2 classes another week - I am fairly flexible as long as there is a space in one of the classes.
Prior to joining the classes everyone needs to have a 1:1 introductory session to go through health clearance and also teach them the basic Pilates principles or assess their current level and class suitability if they have done Pilates before. This takes about 45-60 mins and there is a cost of £60 for that. I can do this at your home or at the clinic I work at in Forest Park,Bracknell.
You will need your own full length mat, head cushion or towel and band for class and also some non-slip socks. I ask that people do not come to class if they are unwell with coughs or colds.
If the class you would like to do is marked full please contact Rebecca at activelivesphysio@btinternet.com to discuss options or to be place on the waiting list for the next course. (Availability updated last on the 06/06/2026)
